The writing is the thing. The practicing piano is the thing. The running is the thing. The jewelry-making is the thing. The designing of a landscape, sketching strangers at a coffee shop, creating a stand-up comedy routine, crafting an art quilt, practicing agnistambhasana – each of these are the thing.

Thinking about the thing is not the thing. Worrying about the thing is not the thing. Telling other people about the thing is not the thing.
